What if you were suddenly given everything you want?

Apr 23, 2020

.
There is a knock on the door and a delivery driver is there with a box on it with the following message:
.
‘Congratulations!
Inside this box is your goal ATAR, early entry into your dream university course and a feeling of no regrets’
.
Do you take the box?
While most people I have asked this question to say ‘Yes I would take the box’ the correct answer is of course ‘No, I wouldn’t take the box’.
.
The reason that taking the box is a bad idea is that the person you become as a result of conquering your challenges in life is much more important than the actual outcome of overcoming the challenge.
.
At CoWorks we talk about three mountains that students will climb in life:
1) Mount HSC
2) Mount Uni
3) Mount Life
If we take the box we do not develop the skills and behaviours that will allow us to climb and conquer mountains in life. It is the challenges that we overcome that shape us to deal with the inevitable challenges that lie ahead and that is what the HSC is all about.
.
The student who finishes the HSC without learning to deal with challenges is going to struggle with the challenges of Mount Uni.
.
So while it would be nice if someone did knock on the door with this magic box (it’s not going to happen) the real benefits that come from conquering Mount HSC can only be earned.
.
Embrace the challenge and let’s get climbing!!

At HSC CoWorks, we emphasise the power of mindmaps for a student’s daily syllabus training. Mindmaps help students break down complex topics, see connections, and retain information more effectively. They’re an essential tool for organised study, making sure no part of the syllabus is overlooked, and empowering students to approach their HSC with confidence and clarity.
How would you feel if you knew the syllabus as well as the top HSC students?
How confident would you feel to attempt practice questions and essays if you knew the syllabus for the topic inside and out?
How ready would you be for an exam if you were taking a roadmap of the syllabus into the exam room with you.. inside of your brain?
Mindmaps take 5-10mins and should be a daily practice for any HSC student. #hsc2025 #hsccoworks #hscstudytips
