School Holiday Program – HSC CoWorks Members

* APPLICABLE TO CURRENT HSC COWORKS MEMBERS ONLY *

IMPORTANT SCHOOL HOLIDAY DATES

  • HSC CoWorks is closed December 12th 2019 – January 8th 2020. During this time pro-rata fees are charged ($550 in December and $700 in January) however students have full access to the Student Portal and online resources during this period.
  • We encourage students to have a break and relax in these holidays! However, we also don’t want students to waste a fantastic opportunity to get ahead and start the next school term feeling prepared and confident.
  • We will guide students on the sort of Summer Study tasks to work on over the holidays.

STUDY BOOTCAMP

Study Bootcamps are an optional service and an additional cost. Over the next 3 terms students will need to complete a seemingly endless assessment schedule, mid-year exams, Major Works and Trial Exams as well as sporting commitments, 18th birthday parties and so on. By attending this Bootcamp, students will be able to reduce some of the workload and stress from later in the year.

HOLIDAY SUPPORT SESSIONS

Students will attend their final weekday session the week of 9th December. We resume holiday support sessions from January 8th and these continue until the end of the January holidays. Click here for more detail.

STUDY BOOTCAMP ** OPTIONAL ** (YEAR 11 &12 STUDENTS)

The April Holidays lead into the busiest term with regard to assessment tasks as schools need to complete the course prior to the Trial Exams which are usually run at the start of Term 3. While we do encourage students to have a couple of days completely off from the HSC in the April Holidays we also know how important it is for students to be fully prepared for Term 2 assessments by the time they go back to school at the end of April.

MOCK EXAM PROGRAM (YR 12 STUDENTS)

Prior to the HSC Trials (July), we run a mock exam program designed specifically to prepare students for the exam room. Over a 2 week period, students will sit 4 x open book exams from home (with access to notes if they need) and in the 2nd week they will complete 4 x closed book exams (in our offices under full exam conditions),

By hard-wiring the behaviour of completing an exam under timed conditions a student will feel much more confident going into the examination room than those students who have attempted just 1-2 practice papers at the library.

Subjects: English Paper 1 & Paper 2 are compulsory (Day 1 and 2 in both weeks). Day 3 & 4 in both weeks the student can select which subject they want to complete.
Exam Papers are provided. Written papers can be submitted to our Marking team for feedback and all other papers will have solutions provided.

How to Book? Students can book their preferred subjects (for Day 3 & 4) and their preferred time allocation (for Week 2 of closed book exams on-site) via the Student Portal. Dates are in the Portal Calendar.

STUDY BOOTCAMP ** OPTIONAL ** (YEAR 12 STUDENTS ONLY)

The business end of the HSC campaign has arrived….

The focus of the July holidays is on preparing students for their Trial Exams by completing exam style tasks under exam conditions each day. Up until now the focus of the HSC campaign has been assessment tasks. Now we are in exam zone. This Bootcamp is designed to teach you how to play the exam game.

Avoidance of completing exam style tasks and instead opting to tidy your room, organise your notes, and then highlight your notes will not allow you to get the marks you want.

How to Book? Click here to book your place at the July Study Bootcamp.

STUDY BOOTCAMP ** OPTIONAL ** (YEAR 12 STUDENTS)

The final bootcamp of the HSC year will ensure that students throw everything they have at the final stages of their HSC campaign. The goal of students at this stage of their HSC is to work hard so they can hold their head up high when they walk out of their final exam in October or November knowing that there was nothing else they could have done to get a great ATAR.

SUPPORT THROUGHOUT THE HSC EXAM TIMETABLE (YEAR 12 STUDENTS)

When students graduate from school in September and leave the classroom for the very last time, there will typically be a further 6 weeks until the HSC Examinations finish. During this time, HSC CoWorks continues to support students to ensure that they remain motivated and have a place to prepare for each of their exams in a space with zero distractions.

How to Book? Bookings for these final HSC Study Bursts will open once the HSC Exam Timetable has been released. All students and parents will be notified.
