From HSC to Career: How HSC CoWorks Equips Students for the World of Work

Sep 15, 2025

In a world that’s changing faster than ever, getting “future-ready” means a lot more than just getting good marks. Deloitte’s 2025 Global Human Capital Trends report highlights exactly what tomorrow’s workplaces need and the good news is, HSC CoWorks is already helping students build those skills right here.

What Deloitte Found About the Future of Work

Deloitte’s 2025 report makes it clear: companies aren’t just looking for people with degrees or qualifications, they’re looking for people with real experience, human skills, and the ability to adapt.

“Two-thirds (66%) of managers and executives say that most recent hires are not fully prepared, and a lack of experience is their most common failing.”

“Nearly three-quarters (74%) of surveyed workers, managers and executives say it is very, or of critical importance to prioritise human capabilities.”

And perhaps most importantly:

“Organisations are being asked to learn new skills and ways of working, adapt to new technologies and pivot in response to unexpected change … Leaders must find the right balance between the stability that workers crave and the agility that organisations need.”

In other words, success isn’t just about what you know. It’s about your ability to collaborate, problem-solve, adapt quickly, and keep learning.

How HSC CoWorks Builds These Skills

At HSC CoWorks, our program is built around exactly these kinds of capabilities.

Every week, students practice the skills that Deloitte says are most valuable for the future workplace.

Here is how…

Students learn to collaborate and brainstorm solutions: No one succeeds in isolation. In every CoWorks session, students are encouraged to talk through their ideas, plan essay responses with their coach, and troubleshoot tricky questions together. This builds confidence in communicating, asking for help, and solving problems with others, skills that are non-negotiable in the professional world.

Students balance structure with flexibility: CoWorks students have a clear roadmap… Coaching sessions, Study planning tools, Goal setting, and they also learn to adapt as circumstances change. Maybe they need to switch focus to a weaker subject or rethink their approach after marker feedback. That ability to stay steady yet flexible is exactly what Deloitte calls “stagility” = stability + agility.

Students get continuous feedback and build a growth mindset: Gone are the days of waiting until the end of the term to know how you’re tracking. Students get weekly, sometimes daily feedback from coaches and markers. They learn that feedback isn’t criticism, mistakes should be embraced, and that mindset sets them up for a lifetime of growth.

Students develop human skills that AI can’t replace: Critical thinking, time management, goal setting, grit, communication..  these are built into everything we do. As technology continues to change how people work, these human capabilities are what will help our students stand out.

Why This Matters for Your Teenager

When students engage fully with the CoWorks program, they walk away with much more than an ATAR. They know how to work with others, adapt when things go wrong, take feedback on board, and keep showing up even when it’s hard.

These aren’t just “study skills.” They’re life skills. They’re exactly the qualities Deloitte says are in short supply in the workforce, which means your teenager is getting a head start that will pay off long after Year 12.

We want students to finish the HSC year knowing they can take on challenges, solve problems, and grow when things get tough!

So many students wait until they feel motivated or have a solid study plan before they begin 🙅‍♀️🙅
But in reality, motivation usually comes after the first action is taken. You don’t need the perfect plan. You just need the first step.
Start small. Just start.
What does a week at CoWorks look like?
It’s not just one session. It’s not just one weekly touchpoint.
It’s a full system of support designed to build confidence and keep students consistently organised, proactive and motivated across the week.
We still have a few places available for Year 12 students across our campuses. If you’re interested, we’d love to invite you to a free 7-day trial so you can see why students choose CoWorks.

April Study Bootcamp is coming...
The April holidays are a critical time for Year 12 students preparing for the busiest assessment term of the year. While a short break is important, using some of this time to get ahead can make a huge difference for Term 2.
At Bootcamp, students will:
✅ Build essays for upcoming texts and modules
🎯 Practice exam-style responses for completed topics
💡 Strengthen readiness for Term 2 assessments
For Year 11 students, one third of the year is already complete. With only two terms until the HSC year begins, this is the perfect time to consolidate preliminary topics and build strong foundations.
Across the 4-hour structured session each day, students tackle English and other key “frog” subjects to ensure meaningful progress before the term begins.
