HOW IMPORTANt IS GOAL SETTING DURING YOUR HSC YEAR?

Mar 9, 2023

Having a strong vision is one of the most important steps you can take to reach success in life. It helps provide clarity around where you want to go and how you plan to get there, whether it is a HSC goal, your dream uni degree, the career you want to have or anything else in life!

A simple exercise that can help put your vision into action is making a vision board. Vision boards are great tools for staying motivated and engaged with your goals, as it allows you to visualize your successes and focus on the benefits of achieving what you set out to do. They help keep your dreams alive and serve as a reminder of why you started in the first place. You can fill them with images, quotes, or even phrases that personally motivate you to stay focused and energized when it comes to achieving your vision. At CoWorks we have a Vision Board template and online “Vision Builder” to assist students build their own goals and vision board.

It is inevitable that during your HSC year you will hit obstacles, suffer setbacks and it might be tempting to give up and say “it’s too hard”. However, if you have a strong vision and a clear reminder of what you want to achieve, it will re-focus and re-energise you. All it takes is some creativity and dedication to create a powerful visual representation of your goals. With this, you can keep pushing forward and make your HSC vision a reality!

Once you have created your vision board, the next step is to stay motivated by engaging with it on a regular basis (at CoWorks, Student Key Behaviour #1 = Engage your Vision!).

Take time out of each day to look at it and reflect on why these dreams are important to you. This will help keep them fresh in your mind and motivate you to stay focused on working on the tasks you really would rather not do! Remember that every little step forward is a sign of progress, so take pride in the accomplishments you make along the way and use them to fire up your motivation.

Having a strong vision and taking action to turn it into reality can lead to both personal and professional success in life. Starting now to build your motivational toolkit with the art of vision board building will support you well after your HSC is over.

Remember that the key is to focus on all the benefits that come with achieving your dreams and use them as motivation to keep going. With a little effort, you can create a powerful vision board and use it to stay motivated!

Good Luck and have fun creating your Vision Board!

So many students wait until they feel motivated or have a solid study plan before they begin 🙅‍♀️🙅
But in reality, motivation usually comes after the first action is taken. You don’t need the perfect plan. You just need the first step.
Start small. Just start.

April Study Bootcamp is coming...
The April holidays are a critical time for Year 12 students preparing for the busiest assessment term of the year. While a short break is important, using some of this time to get ahead can make a huge difference for Term 2.
At Bootcamp, students will:
✅ Build essays for upcoming texts and modules
🎯 Practice exam-style responses for completed topics
💡 Strengthen readiness for Term 2 assessments
For Year 11 students, one third of the year is already complete. With only two terms until the HSC year begins, this is the perfect time to consolidate preliminary topics and build strong foundations.
Across the 4-hour structured session each day, students tackle English and other key “frog” subjects to ensure meaningful progress before the term begins.
