Cool Companies To Work For #4: Google

Feb 11, 2014

“Googlers solve complex problems everyday in the name of our core mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible to our users. But what makes working at Google truly unique is the workplace culture that encourages innovation and a healthy disregard for the impossible.”

Sydney’s office employs hundreds of “Googlers” across a diverse range of areas including engineering, management, sales, law, marketing and real estate. There really is a place for everyone at this exciting and dynamic work place. Google’s culture is one of the most desirable in the world. With mottos like  “you can be serious without a suit,” and “work should be challenging and the challenge should be fun” why wouldn’t it be?

Google “Time Off” is an exciting aspect of working for the company. This is a policy that encourages engineers to spend 20% of their work time on projects that interest them. Some of Google’s most successful services including Gmail and Google News have come from this. Time spent on working on whatever you want to? What a great place to work.

And the perks! At their headquarters in California, there is a seven-acre sports complex, child care centres, games rooms, cafeterias and last year there were 100 000 of subsidized massages doled out. Yes please!

At HSC CoWorks our coaches continually stretch and challenge our students, not just providing HSC Tuition, but preparing students for success after the HSC. We actively encourage students to look ahead not just to University but also to their dream career within an inspiring and leading Company. Having this type of long term vision is not only encouraging but is one of the most successful tools our students can use in order to push themselves out of their comfort zone towards a great HSC result.

HSC CoWorks aims to give you the autonomy and creativity to work in new and exciting ways, perfect to lead into amazing work places like Google.

I certainly know where I’ll be applying to work next year when I graduate!
